When extreme weather strikes, every second counts — and having the right team in the right place can make all the difference. That’s why Casey Billings and SAR-1, his fully equipped Ford F-150 Search & Rescue unit, are always close behind Reed Timmer and Team Dominator during high-risk storm chases.
Equipped with advanced recovery tools, emergency medical gear, water rescue equipment, and real-time communications technology, SAR-1 operates as the safety net of the chase. While Dominator 3 — and occasionally Dominator 4 — lead the charge into the heart of the storm to collect critical weather data and capture real-time footage, Casey follows directly behind, ready to respond when conditions turn dangerous.
“Our mission is simple: track the storm, stay safe, and be ready to help when lives are on the line,” says Casey Billings, Team Dominator Storm Recovery’s lead Search & Rescue operator. “We’re not just chasing storms — we’re here to assist anyone caught in harm’s way.”
During each deployment, Casey stays in constant communication with Reed and the Dominator team, monitoring radar, road conditions, and emergency reports. If a situation escalates — such as flash flooding, tornado damage, or stranded motorists — SAR-1 is immediately activated to provide assistance.
SAR-1’s capabilities include:
Advanced recovery tools
Comprehensive first aid and trauma response gear
Communication for coordination with local authorities
Real-time weather updates
This chase season, Team Dominator and Casey have been on the front lines of multiple severe weather outbreaks, tracking tornadoes, flash floods, and damaging hail across Tornado Alley. Having SAR-1 in the convoy adds a layer of security and support that helps keep both the team and the public safer when seconds matter most.
By combining Reed Timmer’s groundbreaking storm science with Casey’s search and rescue readiness, this partnership creates one of the most capable severe weather response teams on the road today. Whether it’s gathering life-saving data, streaming live storm coverage, or helping communities in crisis, Casey and SAR-1 are proving that storm chasing is about more than documenting nature’s fury — it’s about being there when people need it most.
